A SPECIAL GAME FOR HUGO DURO
Hugo Duro's grandparents visited Mestalla for the first time
Valencia CF took a 2-0 win against Cádiz CF at Mestalla to close LaLiga Matchday 10. The three points were earned thanks to strikes from José Luis Gayà and Hugo Duro.
Rubén Baraja's side began to impose their superiority from the opening moments, and in one of the first actions of the game they took the lead. Amallah threaded the ball behind the defence with a great assist and Gayà, with a subtle touch, popped up to beat the goalkeeper. His delightful chip handed Valencia CF the advantage on the scoresheet in only the third minute of play.
Comfortable in possession, Valencia CF overran Cádiz CF in the midfield, with good linkup play with attack and chances to extend the lead. They enjoyed a numerical superiority as well, as midway through the half Robert Navarro was sent off for the visitors for a very harsh tackle on Pepelu.
In the 25th minute, with the match temporarily 10 vs. 10 as Pepelu underwent treatment on the sidelines, Valencia CF scored their second goal. Thierry Correia sent the ball past the goalkeeper with a rabona delivery, and Duro nodded home.
Javi Guerra would try to score a third with a great solo move that delighted the crowd, shaking off a defender, moving forward and shooting just wide of the far post.
A header from Gabriel Paulista also went close before the interval, and Cádiz CF made changes by bringing on Álex Fernandez and Pires to try and shore things up. They increased the intensity, but Valencia CF kept their stranglehold on the game.
Despite a comfortable 2-0 lead, they continued trying to increase the advantage and, in the 77th minute, Gayà sent a cross into the heart of the area that Yaremchuk turned into the back of the net, but the Ukrainian was denied a first goal for the club due to an offside call.
A solid 2-0 triumph returns the team to winning ways, and they will look to build on the result on Sunday against Athletic Club at San Mamés.
